Roots and Wings Pediatrics: Flying Above the Rest with Concierge Medicine
In Columbus, Ohio, pediatrician Dr. Catherine Sinclair is pioneering a new model of healthcare: concierge medicine. This model eliminates middlemen and puts the patient-doctor relationship at the forefront of healthcare. Patients have access to Dr. Sinclair 24/7 via text, email, or phone call, and there are no triage nurses or schedulers to go through.
About Sinclair’s Practice
Dr. Sinclair’s practice is set up like a living room with toys, making it a more comfortable and less intimidating environment for children. Parents can talk to Dr. Sinclair while their children play, and there are fewer tears during exams. Patients pay a steady monthly fee, similar to a gym membership, and there are no nebulous bills from insurance companies later on. Dr. Sinclair has a smaller patient panel than a typical pediatrician, which allows her to spend more time with each patient.
This model of healthcare is a growing trend, and Dr. Sinclair hopes to expand her practice in the future with the help of other pediatricians who are interested in this model. She believes that this type of healthcare is what both doctors and patients want.
For a monthly fee of $150 for one child, $250 for two children, and $300 for three children, with an additional $50 per month for each additional child, Dr. Sinclair offers on-call services to families with young children. The fee can be paid monthly or annually, and can be covered by healthcare savings accounts and flexible spending accounts. Dr. Sinclair accepts nothing but the best for her patients, and her services are not limited to healthy children.
Children with disabilities, traits, vents, mobility issues, and tube feeds can also benefit from Dr. Sinclair’s concierge medicine practice. She can provide home visits and longer visits to help coordinate care with specialists and provide a medical home for these children.
Dr. Sinclair is actively seeking ways to market her services to families with young children, including outreach to obstetricians and doulas, donations to school galas, and social media marketing on Facebook and Instagram. She also offers medical-grade piercing for ears and noses for all ages as a fun side service.
Be Well Collective
Dr. Sinclair is part of the Be Well Collective, which is a group of providers and recreation activities that offer a range of services, including primary care, lactation support, counseling, music programs, sensory bin experiences, and bilingual storytime for kids up to age seven. Dr. Sinclair is currently in talks with a pediatric occupational therapist, a child psychiatrist, and child and family yoga instructors to expand the range of services offered at the Be Well Collective.
Parents who are looking for a more personalized and convenient healthcare experience for their children may find Dr. Sinclair’s concierge medicine practice to be a great option. With her focus on the patient-doctor relationship and her willingness to work with families with children of all needs, Dr. Sinclair is an innovative leader in the field of pediatric healthcare.
